Week 1

My practicum is at JCBodyshop helping with the afterschool program on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 6:30. This week I recorded 6 hours of hands on ministry. I am a sponsor for the asp at JCBodyshop. Basically I get to hang out with 20-30 kids grade 5th - 8th. We help them with their homework, teach them a lesson about positive action and just have a great time of fellowship.
I really have enjoyed my time working with these kids. I have never really had much experience working with the junior high age but this is a great experience for me. I really have enjoyed getting to know some of these kids a little. I have found that it is a huge asset to earn the respect of these kids. That is done by respecting them. I have a great time with them and pray that God would open up doors for me to share my faith with them even more.
Last week seemed like it was going to be quite a rough week for me. I had a lot to do and just started two practicums, however, these practicums gave me a fresh wind. I love to serve others and that was truly shown to me last week as I was energized by the opportunity to work at JCBodyshop and at my other practicum placement. I felt my heart just explode with joy that this is what I will get to do for the rest of my life. My heart was filled with thankfulness and I think that showed up in my ministry to these kids.
